So That's What Friends Are For.....

Recently a good friend forwarded me this in an email and I thought I would share it.  So feel free to pass it along to all the girlfriends in your life who make you happy and are keeping you healthy!

"In an evening class at Stanford the last lecture was on the mind-body connection - the relationship between stress and disease. The speaker
(head of psychiatry at Stanford) said, among other things, that one of the
best things that a man could do for his health is to be married to a woman
whereas for a woman, one of the best things she could do for her
health was to nurture her relationships with other women. At first everyone
laughed, but he was serious.

Women connect with each other differently and provide support systems
that help each other to deal with stress and difficult life experiences.
Physically this quality "girlfriend time" helps us to create more serotonin -
a neurotransmitter that helps combat depression and can create a general feeling
of well being. Women share feelings whereas men often form relationships around activities. They rarely sit down with a buddy and talk about how they feel about certain things or how their personal lives are going.

Jobs? Yes. Sports? Yes. Cars? Yes. Fishing, hunting, golf? Yes.  But their feelings? Rarely.

Women do it all of the time. We share from our souls with our friends/sisters/mothers/daughters, and evidently that is very good for our health. He said that spending time with a friend is just as important to our general health as jogging or working out at a gym. There's a tendency to think that when we are "exercising" we are doing something good for our bodies, but when we are hanging out with friends, we are wasting our time and should be more productively engaged-not true. In fact, he said that failure to create and maintain quality personal relationships with other humans is as dangerous to our physical health as smoking!

So every time you hang out to schmooze with a gal pal, just pat yourself on the back and congratulate yourself for doing something good for your health! We are indeed very, very lucky. So. let's toast to our friendship with our girlfriends. Evidently it's very good for our health.

Thanks to all the women in my life who have helped me stay healthy, happy, and feeling very loved."

Our Newest Baby Product Line Is More than Just A Pretty Fabric!

Kidoodles is so excited to feature Aden + Anais as one of our newest line of baby products. This company is known for its soft, muslin cotton swaddle wraps designed to comfort and soothe babies -- thereby soothing new parents as well!

We love these products for their adorable "retro" patterns, affordability, and launderablility -- with the muslin getting softer with each washing. Check out our website ( http://www.kidoodlesinc.com/index.php?l=product_list&c=60 ) to see our favorite item -- the burpy bib! This ingenious item works as both a burp cloth for over mom's shoulder or can convert to be used (thanks to the snaps) as a bib for baby. We are also carrying a selection of the swaddle wrap blankets (both single layer and four-layer) and regular bibs.

Aden + Anais aims to educate new parents on the benefits of muslin as well as the benefits of swaddling. Many parents worry that their babies feel chilled during the night and oftentimes a parent wants to use heavier blankets or pajamas. However, muslin's light, open weave allows a baby's body temperature to regulate naturally, reducing the risks of overheating and keeping babies cool in the summer and warm in the winter. According to the American Academy of Pediatrics, infants should be lightly clothed for sleep and many pediatricians and sleep experts recommend babies be swaddled in material that is no thicker than a sheet.

Reagan Maya-Jones, the co-founder of Aden +Anais, is an advocate for the ancient practice of swaddling babies, believing that the cozy feeling of being swaddled mimics the feeling of being back in the womb, helping babies to sooth and settle in for a long, peaceful and healthy sleep.

Whether you buy these muslin products for their looks or for their soothing benefits -- we know you and your baby are going to love Aden + Anais as much as we do! Let us personalize your Aden + Anais muslin swaddle blanket or bib to make it even more special.
