So That's What Friends Are For.....

Recently a good friend forwarded me this in an email and I thought I would share it.  So feel free to pass it along to all the girlfriends in your life who make you happy and are keeping you healthy!

"In an evening class at Stanford the last lecture was on the mind-body connection - the relationship between stress and disease. The speaker
(head of psychiatry at Stanford) said, among other things, that one of the
best things that a man could do for his health is to be married to a woman
whereas for a woman, one of the best things she could do for her
health was to nurture her relationships with other women. At first everyone
laughed, but he was serious.

Women connect with each other differently and provide support systems
that help each other to deal with stress and difficult life experiences.
Physically this quality "girlfriend time" helps us to create more serotonin -
a neurotransmitter that helps combat depression and can create a general feeling
of well being. Women share feelings whereas men often form relationships around activities. They rarely sit down with a buddy and talk about how they feel about certain things or how their personal lives are going.

Jobs? Yes. Sports? Yes. Cars? Yes. Fishing, hunting, golf? Yes.  But their feelings? Rarely.

Women do it all of the time. We share from our souls with our friends/sisters/mothers/daughters, and evidently that is very good for our health. He said that spending time with a friend is just as important to our general health as jogging or working out at a gym. There's a tendency to think that when we are "exercising" we are doing something good for our bodies, but when we are hanging out with friends, we are wasting our time and should be more productively engaged-not true. In fact, he said that failure to create and maintain quality personal relationships with other humans is as dangerous to our physical health as smoking!

So every time you hang out to schmooze with a gal pal, just pat yourself on the back and congratulate yourself for doing something good for your health! We are indeed very, very lucky. So. let's toast to our friendship with our girlfriends. Evidently it's very good for our health.

New look for Kidoodles website

After months of development, our new and improved website is finally here and we couldn't be happier! There are so many advantages that the site has to offer.

You can create a gift registry or wishlist. Let's say you're having a baby and you want to receive some personalized gifts once the baby arrives...you can add items to a gift registry, email it to friends and family, and they can purchase the things you've chosen. Or, you happen to be browsing around the site and you see a number of gifts you would love to give friends, family, or teachers but you don't need them right away. Create a wish list of these items and when it gets closer to the time you need to order them, your list is ready for you. You can also have your child create a wishlist of gifts for their birthday or the holidays and then email their list to family members to give them some great gift ideas.

Kidoodles New and Improved Website

We've just finished updating and making some improvements to our website, www.kidoodlesinc.com. Now it's even easier to find personalized gift suggestions from our home page. We think the new links to some of our most popular gift occasions will help people find what they're looking for even faster. We've also found that people like to keep track of things they like while they're browsing around the website, so we've created our gift checklist to help with that. Even though the holidays seem far away, they'll be here before we know it. The gift checklist really helps me plan ahead so I'm not rushing around at the last minute looking for something. I write down all the people I want to give gifts to; the kids' teachers, coaches, friends, my niece and nephews, and families we visit over winter break. Then I can make notes when I'm shopping on the website or in person and stay within my budget. We're excited about our new look and hope that you find it even easier to shop with us.
